I adored this family session I did with the Martin fam awhile back. Alissa and her family were camping at El Rancho Manana in Richmond, MN and she invited me out there to photograph her family. I could not pass up the opportunity! If you are looking for a photographer near me (you) , look no further I travel state wide and am open to other travels as well!
El Rancho is a beautiful place with horseback riding, camping, and a lovely lake…it was the perfect backdrop. Ironically enough, I worked there briefly (like 2 weeks) as a teen, I figured out pretty quickly that the ranchers life is no joke! It was fun however to revisit this place. I would love to go back sometime and bring our camper and the whole family. They do a lot of scheduled activities for the kids too, especially on the weekends. I know our kids would be thrilled to stay here.
The light, the sunset, my models all were perfect that day. I so love what I do and capturing families like this makes my heart so happy. It helped that Alissa’s family is all so darn gorgeous! I loved the connections and love that I was able to capture between Alissa and her kids. She is an amazing mother that loves and protects her children fiercely. I don’t now if I could pick a favorite picture from this session if I tried. I love the one with the family and the dogs, and miss Layla with her hand resting so cutely on her face. I also adore the series of mom and son kissing, and of course the family pic with the horses in the background. Revisiting this is really making me want to return!
I know many people probably don’t think to hire a photographer when they travel, but this is such a brilliant idea! How often to you get a chance to have a professional photographer document the moments that matter the most. I know when I look back in my childhood our family vacations stand out in my memory. I would have loved to have some photos from those that weren’t just snapshots. If there is anyone out there would like to have something like this documented, let me know!!! It would be like the perfect mix for me, I love photographing travel and families. You could even think beyond travel, what about the county fair, a day at the beach, or even just a day at home. While posed portraits hold a special spot in my heart, this is just as important.
If you are looking to get family portraits done this year, don’t wait until Christmas card time to start thinking about booking! My calendar fills fast especially in the summer and fall. I am so excited for 2018 and all the new opportunities and clients!
