This session was a blast because not only did I get to be the senior photographer of this gorgeous girl, I also got to shoot somewhere new to me, downtown Anoka, MN. When I did Melissa’s consult she was cute and she totally knew what she wanted. She did not want wild flower fields, or anything earthy like that. She knew that she wanted an urban look, since she is a student in Otsego we settled on Anoka. Anoka is the self titled Halloween capitol of the world, they just installed this really neat jack-o-lantern roundabout there. Find more info on Anoka here – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anoka,_MinnesotaWe started the session down by the water/marina in Anoka, and we got sprinkled on ever so lightly. We were slightly concerned with how Melissa’s hair and makeup would look, but the rain let up before it got too bad. We had a beautiful sky this day, which you can see in the river pictures. After the water, she did an outfit change and we headed to the downtown area and utilized the cool old building, stairs, and murals. We found some really great pops of color, and Melissa was always down to try my ideas which I loved. After downtown we headed to this area that is an abandoned auditorium. This was really cool and probably my favorite stop of the day, the stairs are all crumbling, and it is overgrown with beautiful trees. It helped that we had a stellar sky that night too.
